The Educator conducted a far-reaching analysis of the education industry and is proud to recognize Trinity College as one of the standout performers and celebrate its exemplary professional abilities and expertise.
A total of 34 schools were awarded 5-Star Best Schools in Australia, providing inspiration and best practices for their peers across the country.

Their forward-thinking approach and dedication to comprehensive student growth are evident through innovative extracurricular offerings, advanced technology integration, and a strong focus on wellbeing initiatives.”
The Educator ‘s 30+ strong Intelligence Unit compiled the final winners list after the completion of a rigorous 3months process, canvassing the opinions of objective industry experts and collating leading-edge research. In addition, further insight was provided by The Educator’s esteemed judging panel. The prestigious list of honourees was then matched with the 5-Star Best Schools’ precise criteria.
Trinity College receives this honour with much pride and is delighted to be included among the education industry’s top performers. This award is testament to the professionalism and commitment Trinity College brings to the industry and additionally showcases its desire to maintain first-rate standards.
The Educator’s 5-Star Best Schools report spotlighted Australia’s most forward-thinking and impactful schools—those that redefined excellence in education. This inaugural initiative celebrated schools that demonstrated outstanding performance and innovation across multiple dimensions of student learning and wellbeing.
School leaders, administrators, and education professionals were invited to complete a detailed online survey, providing quantitative and qualitative data about their school’s programs, initiatives, and outcomes. The survey was designed to assess key performance areas that defined a truly exceptional school experience.
Submissions were assessed based on the following core pillars of educational excellence:
- Innovative extracurricular programs
- Comprehensive student support
- Safety and wellbeing initiatives
- Technology in learning
- Diversity and inclusion
- Holistic student development
The Educator’s editorial and research team evaluated all eligible entries, taking into account both measurable outcomes and the strength of each school’s narrative. Final selections were made based on overall impact, originality of programs, and demonstrated commitment to student success.

Trinity College Girls Move Closer to the Shield
After another outstanding effort, our female athletics team placed second at this year’s Independent Girls' Schools Sports Association (IGGSA) Carnival.
Only 32 points separated Trinity College from first place winners Immanuel College. Our U14 Girls Div 1 and Open Girls Div 1 teams took first place for their age groups, U15 Girls Div 1 finished equal second with St Peters Girls College, our U16 Girls Div 1 placed second and our U13 Girls Div 1 placed fifth overall.
Last year the girls placed third overall and are closing the margin with each successive meet. We had 56 top three finishes with 23 of those first-place wins in a 107-event program which is outstanding effort.
Special shout out to Willow Morgan (Year 9) who qualified for the U21 Women’s Championship 100m final race and placed third which is a huge achievement for a junior athlete.
Congratulations girls you should be incredibly proud of yourselves! 2025 has been an incredibly successful year for Trinity athletics.

Trinity So Close To Achilles Cup Dream
An Achilles Cup dream win did not eventuate this year despite a spectacular effort from our outstanding athletics team.
After leading the Achilles Cup Athletics Carnival all day, Trinity was pipped at the post by long-time rivals St Peter’s College. Despite numerous outstanding performances, including from sprint sensation Kelechi Ekwomadu (Year 11) who broke two 20-year-old records in the 100m and 200m, it just wasn’t to be.
Points are awarded for placings in all events, and minor placings all count over the course of the day. A mere 70 points separated the two teams in the end with St Peter’s 1283 to Trinity’s 1213 representing the smallest of margins throughout the meet. The rest of the placings were taken by Prince Alfred College, Immanuel College, Pembroke School, Concordia College, Rostrevor College, St Ignatius College and Christian Brothers College.
Trinity jumped out to an early lead and, by the final score updates, were a solitary point ahead. With predominantly the relays left, both schools knew everything mattered. A couple of centimetres in the triple jump, or a head-dip for a minor placing in the 1500 all mattered.
As the results were read out, tension built; U13 Champions - St Peter’s, U14 Champions – Trinity College, U15 Champions – Trinity College, U16 Champions - St Peter’s, Open Boys Champions – Trinity College. With Trinity winning three out of five age groups, St Peter’s were understandably nervous and having won the converted cup 52 of the past 53 years, an overall win by Trinity College would have been big news. But as the final overall placings were read out, Trinity College was announced as runner up in second place. The St Peter’s contingent erupted, and our Trinity athletes were left to ponder what might have been.
While finishing runners up wasn’t in the plan, the entire team should be very proud of what they accomplished and, together with the girls’ team who finished a very creditable second to Immanuel College at the IGSSA Carnival, have established a very high bar for future teams.
Trinity athletics is on a serious roll, and the College is very pleased and proud to see our students competing at such a high standard. Best wishes are extended to all the members of the Open Boys and Junior Girls teams who are continuing to train in preparation for the national event in Melbourne in December.

Second State Title for Open Boys Basketball
The Open Boys Basketball team have won a second state title in as many years after defeating Sports College 60-47 in the final on Wednesday 17 September.
Outstanding defence igniting a fast-break running game was again their formula for success.
Deng Manyang (Year 12) and Shabani Kuyomba (Year 12) were strong around the basket, Josh Louis (Year 11) and Talon Bomford (Year 12) showed excellent leadership and poise, whilst Ezra Wormald (Year 11), David Jaja (Year 11), Guet Deng (Year 12) and Dexter Connolly (Year 12) all contributed at pivotal moments.
Despite being without SAAS grand final MVP Mack Schaftenaar (Year 11) due to an ankle injury the depth of our Trinity team was on full display as well controlled the final from the start.
In the earlier semifinal game against Prince Alfread College, it was a similar story. Lock-down defence leading to easy transition baskets in pivotal moments proving too much for our opponents.
Congratulations to coach Chris Clausen and team for another outstanding season. Lunchtime weights sessions, daily shooting sessions before and after school and an unrivalled commitment to the College team further cements Trinity’s reputation as one of the premier basketball programs in the country.
The team will now prepare for school’s nationals in Gold Coast in December as one of only eight teams in the championship division.
A sincere thank you to all staff and students who supported the team throughout the campaign.

Open A Hockey Team Crowned SAAS A2 Champions
The Trinity Open A Hockey Team were crowned SAAS A2 Champions after an emphatic 12-2 victory over St Ignatius on Saturday.
After a hotly contested regular season, Trinity and Scotch College could not be separated as St Ignatius' grand final opponent. Every metric saw them tied for second. As a result, the two teams had to have an un-scripted preliminary final the week prior in which Trinity prevailed, setting up an exciting finale.
From the onset, Trinity was locked in. Resolute defence kept the ball in Trinity's half, and the forward half capitalised on several opportunities, creating an early buffer that was never threatened.
Trinity lost focus towards the end of the first half, and St Ignatius mounted a counterattack that shifted momentum, but Trinity regained composure early in the second and put the game away.
A true team effort. Congratulations to all.
