The long-term impact of a one-week immersion experience at TICS on students’ attitudes and perceptions
This project investigated the long-term effects of a one-week immersion experience at TICS on students’ academic attitudes.
Using a longitudinal Student Attitude Survey (SAS) administered before, immediately after, and in a follow-up period post-immersion, the study measured changes in engagement, motivation, and perceptions of various subjects.
Preliminary findings revealed a significant uptick in positive attitudes immediately following the immersion experience. However, sustaining these improvements over time appeared to hinge on factors such as continued support, relevance of follow-up activities, and the students’ sense of ongoing connection to the programme.
The results highlight the need for intentional long-term strategies to build on initial gains, ensuring that short-lived enthusiasm is translated into enduring positive shifts in learning attitudes.
