Gawler River Celebrates Do it for Dolly Day
On Friday 8 May, Gawler River staff and students celebrated Do it for Dolly Day. Early Years through to Year 10 students recognised this day through discussing the importance of being kind to one another, embracing kindness stickers and valuing random acts of kindness.
To commemorate and celebrate the life of Dolly Everett, staff and students arranged tiny messages of kindness in the shape of a butterfly, each sending a clear message that bullying does not belong. Over 900 butterflies filled our mural, one by one they were placed with a smile, with a purpose, with a conversation to be kind to one another.
It was inspiring to witness the Gawler River community uniting for such a powerful cause. By doing so we encourage others to share the same message of being brave enough to speak out against bullying. Educating and raising awareness about the impact of bullying will see our community grow and strengthen, creating a sense of togetherness which is now more important than ever.
