Year 8/9 Basketball Wins State Title

November 17, 2020

The 8/9 Boys Basketball team has capped off a tremendous year by winning the state knockout title with a convincing 55-38 win over Modbury High School.

The team went 15-0 for the season after sweeping the SAAS premiership and then winning all seven of its KO matches. A feature of the team’s play was the outstanding pressure defence which ignited a blistering transition game. There were terrific contributions from everyone during today’s final day.

Agok was unstoppable on the boards in the final, leading to valuable second-chance points, whilst Makai created numerous opportunities for his team with his stifling defence. Noah was able to get into the keyway at will and was reliable from the perimeter, and Isaac was also very handy at the offensive end. BJ provided muscle and poise all day, Taj was high-energy as always, Beau and Gak were rock solid defenders, whilst Jamo and Blake provided a tower of work on the boards. This was an outstanding team to watch, with genuine team-play at both ends of the floor and excellent contributions across the board.

Congratulations Toby and team on the state championship and an outstanding year.
