Community Project Ready to Install

February 09, 2023

The Blakeview School Community Project “Painting the Fence” is in its final stages.

The Jamieson House proposal won funding to produce artwork to be erected near the creek fence at our Blakeview school. This project involved many students from across all the Blakeview Houses in the Middle School at the end of 2022. With the support of Barkindji artist, Caitlyn Davies-Plummer and our Cultural Liaison Leader, Dale Giles, the students completed the mural and are in the final stages of preparing the artwork for display. The community will be able to view the mural in person during Open Day 2023.

During 2022 Blakeview heard proposals from each House. A focus group was formed to discuss the options for the funding. The 2022 Community Project ideas that were approved are;

  1. New bag hooks in the breezeway.
  2. Outdoor cushions and storage.
  3. Student kitchen opened (once a week).
  4. New drink fountains.

This long list of projects is possible due to the generous support from the P&F Committee and Blakeview staff willing to give their time.

We are looking forward to hearing the proposals for the 2023 Community Projects. Planning will begin early in Term 2.
