Commencement Service

The 2026 Trinity College Senior Commencement Service was held on Friday 30 January in the Hewitson Theatre STARplex. The event marks the formal beginning of the school year and celebrates student leadership within our community.

A highlight of the service was the formal induction of the 2026 College Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects. Being appointed to a student leadership position at Trinity College is a significant honour. These roles are entrusted to students who consistently demonstrate integrity, service, initiative and a strong commitment to the values of our College. They are voted for by their peers and Trinity College Senior staff.

College Captains and Vice Captains represent the highest level of student leadership. Our Captains are role models for their peers, ambassadors for the College and key contributors to the life and community of the school. Their leadership involves guiding and supporting the student body, representing student voice, leading College events and upholding the standards and expectations of Trinity College with pride and respect.

Prefects play an equally important leadership role within the College. As visible and trusted leaders, Prefects support and represent all students, assist staff, contribute to College events and model positive behaviour both within and beyond the College walls. Their willingness to serve others and lead by example is central to strengthening our College community.

We are delighted to announce our 2026 College Captains, Michael Herewane and Willow Shaw, supported by Vice Captains Elsie MacGillivray and Miella Curthoys-Davies.

We also extend our congratulations to the 2026 Prefects Ash Clonan, Bailey Patterson, Campbell Fowler, Charlene Yeap, Charlotte Hately, Chiara Puccini, Eliana Girgolas, Elyse Fechner, Elyse Sumner, Hayley Gill, Jack Dexter, Kaitlyn Winchester, Kane Graetz, Kiki Ajak, Lily McLean, Mia Forsyth, Miracle Gakiza, Oliver King, Raya Hemmatzadeh, Ruby Dorian, Sabrina Barlow and Samuel Krieg.

The Commencement Service set a positive and purposeful tone for the year ahead, reinforcing that leadership at Trinity College is grounded in service, responsibility and growth alongside others. Our newly appointed Captains delivered their inaugural Captain’s Address, outlining their intentions for leadership in 2026 and inviting the College community to reflect on the theme, “What will your legacy be?” 

We congratulate all inducted leaders and thank families for their continued support as we begin what promises to be a rewarding year for our 2026 cohort.
