Full Game Reports

Trinity College (68) defeated St Michael’s College (43)

Scorers: Josh Clayton (16), Josh Louis (10), Sam Upton (10)

The opening quarter set the tone for a tightly contested Intercol clash, with Trinity College and St Michael’s trading blows from the outset. Neither side was willing to give an inch, but Trinity managed to edge ahead and take a slight advantage into the second. That’s when Trinity began to find another gear and their depth showed. Defensive stops sparked their transition game, with Trinity pushing the pace and converting at the other end to open up a double-digit lead heading into the main break.

St Michael’s weren’t going away quietly. Their competitiveness and some timely baskets throughout the third quarter kept them within striking distance and ensured the game was still alive heading into the final term.

But Trinity turned up the intensity once again when it mattered most. There were highlight dunks in transition from both Ezra Wormald (Year 12) and Josh Clayton (Year 12), bringing the crowd to life, while Tyler Biscette (Year 9) and Josh Louis (Year 12) hit back-to-back three pointers. Trinity continued to stretch the margin throughout the final quarter, eventually running away with an impressive 68–43 victory.

Trinity College (66) defeated St Michael’s College (34)

Scorers: Tyson Bain (20), Nic Bell (16)

The Trinity Open Bs came out firing against St Michael’s, setting the tone early with aggressive and disciplined defence. Excellent help defence forced a number of turnovers, allowing Trinity to get out in transition and quickly build a double-digit lead.

Trinity maintained control throughout the game, with strong attacking drives either creating layups at the ring or drawing the defence and creating quality looks from beyond the arc. They made the most of those opportunities, knocking down numerous open threes and continuing to extend the margin.

Trinity’s defensive pressure and efficient offence proved too much for St Michael’s, as they ran away with an impressive 66–35 victory.

St Michael’s College (55) defeated Trinity College (38)

Scorers: Keeley Molyneux (13), Georgia Lowke (9)

The Open Girls Basketball came out firing in their Intercol clash against St Michael’s, playing with aggression, intensity and strong defensive pressure from the opening whistle.

Madi Barnes (Year 10) was a standout, dominating the boards at both ends of the court, while Keeley Molyneux (Year 11) was a constant threat in the key and showed great control with her ball-handling. Naomi Elle (Year 10) attacked confidently with the ball, Georgia Lowke's (Year 10) intense defence created important stops, and Madison Phillips (Year 10) made her presence felt whenever she stepped onto the court.

Grace drove strongly into the key, while Ruby was a brick wall inside the paint. Unfortunately, St Michael’s gained momentum in the final quarter and capitalised on several fast-break opportunities to get on top late in the game. Despite the result, the girls competed hard, supported one another and represented Trinity with pride throughout the contest. Congratulations to Naomi who was awarded the Intercol Medal for Trinity.

St Michael’s College (13.11.89) defeated Trinity College (12.7.79)

In what will go down as the best intercol football match ever, St Michael’s has outlasted a desperate and fast-finishing Trinity by 10 points.

Division 1 team St Michael’s were dominant in the first half, running rings around a hapless Trinity outfit, who looked every bit a Division 3 side. The six-goal margin at half time threatened to become a blowout.

As the third quarter progressed, Trinty strung a couple of goals together and the spirits stirred. There was a murmur around the ground as the Trinity fans sensed life from their team. Those murmurs grew into belief with a spirited ¾ time huddle. In the fourth, it was all Trinity. Powerful surges forward from Eime and C. Fieldhouse found strong targets in Schubert and Tedesco, converting to goals as Trinity piled on three-straight to draw within three points. The crowd was roaring. Another clearance . . . another goal. Suddenly Trinity was in front – and with all the momentum! St Michael’s has fallen in a hole.  This was headed for a massive boilover. St Michael’s woke up, replied with a steadying goal, and Trinity countered. With ten minutes to play, Trinity in front. Now it was game-on. A St Michael’s goal with five minutes left had them in front. Frantic play ensued. A Trinity turnover, and St Michael’s rebound and goal – up ten points. More chaos, Trinity distracted. Seconds ticking away, and time runs out for the hosts.

A monumental Trinity comeback beaten by the clock. A game for the ages. Trinity showed they were capable of brilliant football, and rising to the level of the opposition, playing their best half of football for the year, and left wondering what could have been but for a slow start.

St Michael’s College (14.14.98) defeated Trinity College (8.5.53)

Goals: Jasper (3), Oakley (2), Jonte, Riley & Ethan (1)

With a strong side on the park, the Trinity 2nds fought valiantly against St Michael’s, a Division 1 football school. The first half was an even contest, with the boys more than holding their own against a well-drilled and polished opponent.

Jaiden Karklis (Year 12) who was awarded the Intercol Medal as best on ground, gave Trinity first use of the ball throughout the day, dominating in the ruck and competing strongly against his opponents. Young guns Brock Goodridge (Year 10) and Oaklea Scott (Year 10) ran tirelessly all game, working from contest to contest and giving tremendous effort. No doubt they slept well that night.

Riley Bubner (Year 12) playing the role of quarterback off the back flank, helped the team break the lines and set up a number of scoring opportunities. Up forward, Jasper “Goal Sneak” Hoare (Year 12) once again showed his class, bringing his bag of tricks and finishing with three majors.

Unfortunately, the second half was one-sided, with St Michael’s coming out strongly after the break and kicking away. Congratulations to all the lads who put their bodies on the line and played a Trinity brand of football. They never gave up, and we are all incredibly proud of their effort.

Trinity College (54) defeated St Michael’s College (14)

A strong performance from the Open Girls Football team saw Trinity claim victory at Intercol for the second consecutive year over the state girls football power.  St Michael’s was fresh off a last-minute minute defeat by Sacred Heart in the state final, so Trinity looked like rank underdogs in the 2026 intercol. Someone failed to inform them of the script . . .

A strong wind across the ground made scoring difficult throughout the game, with Bridie Lukich (Year 12) leading the forward line and managing to find the big sticks twice. Lily Steen (Year 10) was outstanding through the ruck and midfield, repeatedly charging out of packs with the ball and gaining valuable territory, while also contributing a goal of her own.

Skyla James (Year 10) and Mia Walasek (Year 9) showcased their class through the midfield, while Sienna Goddard (Year 11) provided plenty of impact from the wing. Down back, Mia Hall (Year 9) and Dakota Joseph (Year 12) were dominant, consistently winning the footy and launching important rebounds from defence.

St Michaels struggled to withstand the pressure applied by the Trinity girls, who continued to build momentum throughout the game. A strong second-half performance saw Trinity run over the top of St Michaels and put the scoreboard pressure on to secure another well-deserved Intercol victory.

St Michael’s College (2.10.22) defeated Trinity College (2.0.12)

The Middle Girls Football team played a highly competitive Intercol game against St Michael’s, taking the play right up to the opposition and demonstrating excellent determination and team spirit throughout. It was fantastic to see some new faces for the game, with Harper Ribbons (Year 9) and Isabella Tabeni (Year 9) both having strong games and making valuable contributions to the team.

Once again, some familiar faces featured among our best players, with Mia Walasek (Year 9), Mia Hall (Year 9) and Alyssa McGannon (Year 8) all playing outstanding games. Lucia Camilleri (Year 7) was recognised with the Best on Ground medal following an exceptional performance. Well done to the entire team for their effort, competitiveness and commitment. We look forward to taking on St Michael’s again in Week 6, when we meet in the first round of the knockout competition.

St Michael's College (49) defeated Trinity College (34)

Trinity were up for a battle for large parts of the game but were unable to sustain the level of effort required to remain within reach. The general contest was closer than the scoreline indicated with some great defensive pressure leading to good opportunities to close the gap. Patches of skill errors and poor decision making proved costly.

St Michaels were cleaner with their possessions and were able to capitalise on turnovers more consistently than we were. Best on court for Trinity was Lily James who moved well, providing attacking strong attacking options, worked hard defensively creating turnovers and shot accurately throughout the match.

Trinity College (44) defeated St Michael’s College (15)

The Year 9/10A team came up against a strong challenge in St Michael’s Open B team, with plenty of uncertainty around what to expect heading into the game. It was a hard-bodied contest from the opening whistle, with the first quarter tightly contested and somewhat frantic due to the pressure and intensity from both teams.

As the game settled, the girls worked incredibly hard through the body and competed strongly for every 50-50 ball, building a strong lead heading into half time. Isla Morris (Year 9) and Sunny Harte (Year 9) applied excellent pressure through the midcourt, allowing Mahlee Cavin (Year 10) to capitalise in the backline with intercept after intercept.

Our defensive structures and pressure, attacking smarts and strong shooting kept us in control, while some creative feeds created plenty of scoring opportunities. At half time, we introduced our impact players to bring fresh legs onto the court and ensure we could finish the game strongly. The lead continued to grow across the second half, with all ten players making a valuable contribution to what was a convincing 44-15 win.

Mahlee Cavin was our Intercol medalist, producing an outstanding four-quarter effort across GD and GK, with intercepts, deflections, and gains making a significant impact on the result. A fantastic full-team effort from the Year 9/10A girls.

St Michael’s College 1 (3) defeated Trinity College 1 (2)

Goal: Kayigamba, Best: Bolzon, Kayigamba, Bhattarai

Trinity battled to a 1–1 draw against St Michael’s in a tightly contested Intercol fixture. Jack Kellett (Year 10) provided the assist for Leo Kayigamba (Year 10) to open the scoring, with Trinity taking a 1–0 lead into half time. St Michael’s responded in the second half when a long-range effort found its way past Alex Moungos (Year 12) despite the goalkeeper getting a hand to the shot.

Trinity continued to create opportunities, but the St Michael’s goalkeeper produced a number of excellent saves to keep his side in the contest. With the scores level at 1–1 after full time, the match went to a penalty shootout. Unfortunately, the St Michael’s goalkeeper proved the difference, saving three of Trinity’s five penalties to secure the shootout victory. Congratulations to Lachlan Bolzon, who was awarded the Intercol Medal for his outstanding contribution throughout the match.

Trinity College (3) defeated St Michael’s College (2)

Goalscorers - Elena Rogge, Achik Manyang, Annalyse Moungos

Best - 3 Alliah Simpson, 2 Mackenzie Lindner, Myah Richards

St Michaels fielded a complete and strong team with great chemistry. The Trinity girls went behind early in the first half however reacted well with the last kick of the half being a solo effort from Achik Manyang (Year 9), taking the ball from the sideline through the defence and slotting it home with a great finish.

Going in at the break 1 - 1 lifted the girls' belief. On the restart Elena Rogge (Year 10) promptly provided a thunderbolt strike at the near post from an overlapping run to take back the lead for Trinity. Annalyse Moungos (Year 9) with a clinical performance, winning the Intercol medal nominated by St Michaels staff, sealed the game with another fantastic half-volley finish near the edge of the box to claim the win. St Michaels received a consolation goal at the end as the final whistle blew to make it 3-2 however the slip through the fingers of goalkeeper Myah Richards (Year 11) was the only mistake from an otherwise flawless performance in the net for Trinity.
