Trinity Hockey results, May 19

Trinity Open Boys 1 defeated Gleeson College 0
Goal Scorer: Claire Donaldson

Match Report: Against a stronger opposition than we have faced in previous weeks the Trinity team started strongly and with good discipline. The inclusion of Laura Kingsmill in the midfield had immediate effets with her interception and passing skills on show. From a rebound after a short corner Claire Donaldson pushed the ball over the line for our first goal. Continued forward pressure did not result in any more goals, and this is an area the strikers must work on. The second half saw the Gleeson team put our defence under sustained pressure and the committed approach of Scott Jones, Jakeb Jones, Ben Bailey and goalkeeper Sam Carr resisted all attempts. Trinity wasted a number of attempts late in the match but the final result was a well-deserved one nil win. All players contributed to this pleasing win.

Trinity Open Girls 11 defeated Pembroke College 0
Goal Scorers: L Kingsmill 5, K Vonthethoff 2, R Price 1, I Sharrad 1, E Kolze 1, R Dixon 1
Best Players: L Kingsmill, R Price, A Davey

Match Report: The girls welcomed two new faces to the side this week with Isabella and Rebekah playing their first game of Open Girls Hockey. Isabella managed to open the scoring with a goal inside the first minute, followed shortly after by goals to Laura, Rhiannon and Rebekah. For this match the girls were focussing on playing to their positions and working the ball more effectively into the forward lines. There was definite improvement in the way the girls moved the ball with crisper passes and improved trapping. Special mention should be made of Anne and Rhiannon who this week showed that they are adjusting well to the change in playing surface, appearing much more confident with their skills. Thank you also to Hanna Kingsmill who graciously filled in for Pembroke who were short on numbers.

Trinity U13 Red 1 Lost to Two Wells 3
Goal Scorers: Billie Bockmann 1
Best: Lachlan Pinchbeck, Joost Lloyd, Tahlia Kelly

Match Summary: Trinity Red encountered a very strong Two Wells team that made the most out of their opportunities. Trinity defence was placed under a lot of pressure that was absorbed well by Lachlan Pinchbeck and Hayden Melnik. Trinity unfortunately suffered several minor injuries during the course of the match and finished the game with only 9 players on the field. It was a great effort by all.

Trinity U11 1 lost to Two Wells 5
Goal Scorer: Rachel Hosking
Best Player: Henry Spooner

The level of skill displayed in Saturday’s match was very impressive. Two Wells upheld high pressure throughout the game and tackled fiercely. Trinity was made to work hard to maintain possession of the ball and while they mostly worked well as a team, they could not hold off the powerful attackers in the opposition. Rachel scored a well-deserved goal just before half time and Henry made an impressive debut as the Trinity goalkeeper.

Trinity U9 5 defeated Tanunda Black 0
Goal Scorers: Oliver Telfer 3, Ben Telfer 2

Match Summary: Once again the U9's played a phenomenal game! We were outnumbered once again this game, however that didnt deter the team one bit. Within the first ten minutes, two goals were scored by Ben Telfer. We witnessed a fantastic run down the field by Nathan Zimmerman, but were extremely unfortunate to hear the sound of the half-time buzzer just seconds before he scored a goal. Nethertheless, at the second half Oliver scored a further three goals, all of which were heavily impacted by the team effort down the middle. Its clearly evident that the team is connecting better as a whole - each member strongly maintained their positions and it was fantastic to hear some really loud voices on the field. One of the biggest highlights however, was that the team where incredible in manning-up on the oppositions players. The teamwork on Saturday was greatly improved and we look forward to many more successful games in the future!
