Cross Country Report 2012 - North School
On Monday the 5th of May, Trinity North held its annual Cross Country Championships. An early shower did not dampen the mood and student participation remained high with over 300 students and 3 teachers taking part. The event is split into 2 races with the U14-16 Boys running 3km while the rest complete the 2km track.
Congratulations to Beadell House who continued its dominance in 2012 to win
the Championship Shield with Thiele and Fatchen finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.  Saunders House narrowly won the participation shield for the second year running finishing just ahead of Burton and Thiele Houses.
Congratulations to all students who participated on the day and a special congratulation to those who won their individual age groups. Please click here for details.
Thank you to all of the middle school staff and ground staff who assisted with the organisation and running of the event. Without your contributions these events would not be possible.

A-Grade Athletics:
On the last week of term one, the College Athletics team competed in the Secondary School Sports South Australia (SSSSA) A-Grade Athletics Carnival.  The College’s Athletics team finished a very creditable fourth in the state in both boys and girls.  Numerous students won individual events, while Jackson Potter (U/14 200m), Phoebe Matthews (U/14 400m) and James Deanshaw (U/15 Long Jump) were each awarded a standard badge, meaning their performances were of a national standard.  Full story

North duo reach elite

Recently both Maighan Hern (far left) and Tansy Kember (both yr 8 North ) were selected to compete at Santos in the State Individual Athletics Championships. Maighan qualified for 6 events, as did Tansy. Unfortunately due to a hip injury Maighan didn’t medal on the day, but was in the top 8 for all the events she competed in. Tansy however, did receive a bronze in high jump and a silver in triple jump. Congratulations both girls.

Potter weaves magic at Athletics State Championships

Congratulations to the four Trinity College students who competed in the AthleticsSA Junior Track and Field Championships held recently at Santos Stadium.

Sprinter Jackson Potter (left), still only 13 years old, ran an outstanding 200m final to win gold in the u/16 age group.  Jackson’s time 24.75 seconds was just outside the College u/14 record. In the u/16 100m final Jackson also ran well to claim the silver medal in a time of 12.18.

New senior student to the College, James Heap, made finals in both the u/18 100m and 200m running 5th (11.62) and 7th (23.85) respectively. James will be a welcome addition to the College interschool team.

Year 12 student and experienced campaigner Katie Devlin also made finals in the u/18 100m (13.25) and 200m (27.52). 2012 will be the sixth year that Katie has represented Trinity in athletics and we will look to her leadership capabilities in interschool competitions this year.

Brianna Fuller performed very well in her first AthleticsSA Championships. Not 14 until the end of the year, Brianna made the final of the u/16 100m (13.76) and jumped close to her best in the long jump (4.45m) and the high jump (1.40m). It is hoped that, together with Jackson Potter, Brianna and other outstanding juniors will begin a new, successful era of track and field at Trinity College.
