Trinity College Sport Policy

The College Policy on sport is quite clear and has the support of the College Council. The policy can be found in the student diary and on the College website.

SAPSASA Athletics

Trinity primary school students from the North, South and Gawler River Schools represented the Gawler District SAPSASA team at the Country Athletics Day held recently at SANTOS stadium. Our Blakeview athletes represented the Elizabeth Zone at the Metropolitan Athletics Day also at the SANTOS stadium. All students were a credit to the College both in their performance in the events and their behaviour as part of the teams.

After winning the Country Champion District Shield last year for the first time in many years, Gawler were looking to go two in a row. Despite doing well in the relay events Gawler went down by just 7 points to the Riverland team. The Elizabeth team finished 12th out of the 18 zones in the Metropolitan competition.

Particular congratulations must go to Katie Devlin of the North School. Katie won gold medals in the 12 year girls 100m and 200m and also won gold as part of the relay team. As a result of her great performances Katie has been chosen in the State SAPSASA team which will contest the National Championships in Launceston later this year.

Others to win individual medals at the Country Championships were Luke Richards (South) with gold in the 13 year boys discus, Amelia DeRuvo (North) with silver in the 12 year girls discus and Lachlan Arthur (South) with a bronze in the 11year boys discus.

Relay medalists were Declan Stimson (gold 13 boys), Carlton Morgan-Waters (gold 13 boys), Brett Jenkin (gold 12 boys), Daniel Phelan (gold 12 boys), Jason Pattiwaellapia (gold 12 boys), Emma Haynes (gold 12 girls), Katie Devlin (gold 12 girls) and Jordan Waters (silver 11 boys).

Best competitors for Blakeview were Samantha Saunders with a 5th in the 200m final and Kyle Presbury who was 5th in the high jump.

Year 1 Assembly

Today we had our 1B and 1H STARplex assembly about the Three Little Pigs. Parents and South kids were there as well. I was one of the main characters - the wolf. My mum and my baby sister came. One of my best friends was the speaker. The parent’s laughed when I burned my bottom. I liked it.

Year 6 Character Day

Congratulations to Hayden Reinli for winning Best Original Idea for Merlin the Wizard, Jade Koek for Best Character Explanation for the Funny/Evil Clown and Josh Naumann for Best Costume as Jack Sparrow in 6 O’Brien.

Emily Chelchowski won Best Costume as Spongebob Squarepants, Angus Millikan won Best Original Idea as Aragon and Jayden Cairns won Best Character Explanation for Red Adair in 6 Malone.

Year 9 Camp

Our first night was at Troopers Creek. The girls erected their tents without incident and were soon inspecting the food for their evening meal. Their first attempt with trangias was ‘interesting’, but they eventually all had had some hot food. Once cleared away, we lit a fire and told a few stories, jokes and “I remember when….”

The next morning after a large breakfast of hot muffins ably cooked by Jess we started to pack ready for our first hike to Bee Hive Falls about 12 kilometres away, but over the Mt Difficult Range. The girls walked well, but it was not too long before the path became really step and hazardous. A few moans and groans were heard, but progress continued.

The “Year 9 Camp” to the Grampians is an event that students remember for the rest of their lives. Past students reflect fondly on the experience as a highlight of their time at Trinity College. This year’s students will join those who went before them with their stories of adventure in the bush.
