Trinity claims SAAS title

Basketball Open A SAAS Champions 2017

Aug 14:
Trinity Open A basketball has claimed the 2017 Sports Association of Adelaide Schools (SAAS) championship with a 43-36 win over Cabra on Saturday.
The game was won on the back of a devastating 17-2 first quarter when Cabra could find no holes in the Trinity defence with Alex Roberts forming a one-man wall inside.  On the offensive end, Brad Skuce had 11 of his game-high 21 points in the first and Campbell Watts had four points.
Cabra clawed back in the remaining three quarters with excellent ball movement and plucky general play, but Trinity were never genuinely threatened.  Scorers:  Skuce 21, Watts 8, Kalani Sapwell 4.

In the earlier semi final game, Trinity squeaked past a strong Sacred Heart outfit 35-34 after taking the lead for the first time in the game in the dying minutes on the back of two Kalani Sapwell three-pointers.  Scorers:  Skuce 11, Sapwell 8, Watts 7, Deklan Crook 5.

The team moves on to the state finals this Wednesday with confidence, but plenty of room for improvement.

The Team:
Back row:  Jye Watson (Coach), Ben Cannizzaro (GAW9), Alex Roberts (SNR12), AJ Cunningham (SNR12), Campbell Watts (SNR12), Deklan Crook (SNR12), William Kuany (SNR12).  Front Row:  Kalani Sapwell (NOR9), Ben Pearson (SNR11), Brad Skuce (SNR12), Hudson Walsh (SNR11), Alex Winter (SNR11).
