From the Director

Dear Parents,

Well here we are in week 8, I can’t believe how quickly this term has flown past. We have had a very busy 8 weeks:

- The Wednesday afternoon 4 year olds went swimming at the STARplex pool.

- The Thursday afternoon children tried Zumba at STARplex.

- The Friday afternoon children visited Trinity Collage Senior School and looked in the classrooms……the favourite being the Chemistry Lab where they tried on special glasses and Lab coats!

- The Tuesday morning children attended the South School Reception Christmas assembly.

We hope to introduce swimming and Zumba as part of our ongoing Montessori programme.

The Children due to start school have enjoyed ongoing Transition at North and South, visiting their classes, meeting their new teachers and making friends ready for a tear free start in January.

Christmas Celebration/Graduation

Our end of year Christmas celebration is taking a new direction this year. With over 150 children currently enrolled it has been decided that this year we will try something new! We will have a party every day next week ……yippee!

From Monday to Thursday we will hold a Graduation Ceremony for the children leaving to go to school. The families of a graduating child will provide a plate of food to share, we will also be making fairy bread, icing cupcakes and making special treats with the children to share at our daily parties.

Normal session times will apply and each session will be filled with Christmas activites, cooking, creating , plaster of paris painting and lots of FUN FUN FUN! Children can wear Christmas clothes/outfits if they would like to.

If your child suffers an allergy it would be great if you could provide a special treat for them…..the staff will make a safe area for them to enjoy the party.

I would love to hear your feedback about the Christmas break up idea. As we are now so big even trying to take the party off our premises is proving difficult. When we allow for Montessori Children, parents, sibling, grandparents and friends last year we had around 250 people attending .

Farewells and Thankyous

I would also like to acknowledge the contribution Ashlee Jansen has made to the Preschool this year. Ashlee was a year 12 Prefect for 2011 and really enjoyed coming down to the Preschool to spend time with the children. She gave up her own time to organise activities for the children including the visit to the Senior School in Week 8.

It has been lovely having Michelle’s daughter Brittany helping out in the classrooms, the children have enjoyed working with her very much.

It’s with sadness we say goodbye to Andrea Ball at the end of the year, her family is moving to country Victoria for a job opportunity. Andrea has worked at Montessori since 1998, first as a volunteer then as a classroom assistant for the Early Beginnings group and lunch care.

Thank you from all the staff for your smiling faces and continued support to our Pre School, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!

Sessions for 2012

Unless you have put in a request for a change of sessions, or you have advised us that your child is leaving, your child's sessions will continue on unchanged for Term 1 next year.

For those who have requested a change in sessions, confirmation letters have been posted today.

Please contact Anita if you have any questions about sessions for next year.
