Student WellBeing @ TCS
Pastoral care at TCS is primarily organised through vertically structured tutor groups.
Tutor groups form a pivotal part of the students’ daily relationships and interactions within TCS providing students in Years 11 and 12, under the leadership of the Tutor, the opportunity to share their unique experiences and develop strategies for dealing with the demands of their education and preparation for entry into the world beyond school.
Pastoral care is further supported by the Year Level Coordinators who ensure a collaborative approach to student well-being. The Student Counsellor is able to provide intervention where issues go beyond the pastoral care provided by the Tutors. The Student Counsellor is able to assess and provide the additional support required in a nonjudgmental and confidential environment and refer to outside agencies where the need arises.
Pastoral care in TCS aims to promote a student’s sense of belonging and connectedness to the school as well as promote well-being through structures and programmes which are developmental, proactive and reactive. Programmes of key focus includeThe Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens and Mind Matters
The aim of these interventions is to enhance emotional resilience developing essential life skills such as communication and decision making.
