Culture…is the widening
of the mind and of the spirit. Jawaharlal Nehru
Trinity College
is passionate about providing students with opportunities for
intellectual and artistic achievement and expression. Supported
by access to performing, studio and gallery spaces, exposure
to cultural experiences and cultural education programmes that
provide opportunity and expression to all students from Reception
to Year 13, is a part of life at Trinity, and the teaching
staff are committed to involving students in exploring their
capabilities
and creative life through Visual and Performing Arts and the
written word.
Since its inception, Trinity
College has promoted the development of innovative enrichment
programmes. Artist-in-Residence
and
Writer-in-Residence programmes have featured during the College’s
22 year history, in harmony with the production of Performing
Arts pieces featuring students from Junior, Middle and Senior
school levels. Visiting Band Directors have provided artistic
leadership and inspiration to the broad range of ensembles engaged
in an extensive music programme. For many years, the College
has also been recognized for the excellence of its performance
ensembles.
The developing Choral programme provides students
with additional and varied performance opportunities. Junior
and Middle
School
and College School choirs and contemporary bands, regularly
entertain the College community and provide cultural outreach
to the wider
community through, for example, visitation of local centres
for aged care.
The annual College Musical production provides
an enriching community experience, enabling performing arts students
collectively from
the five Trinity College Schools to work in partnership in
producing
a performance spectacular of excellence. Bi-Annual Rock Eisteddfod
Challenge and Wakakirri performances engage students in vibrant
and rigorous dance, music theatre and music visual arts experiences.
The organic nature of the Cultural Programme at Trinity College
enables students to experience a breadth of activities that
explore the limits of creative expression. Continually evolving
alongside
technological and contemporary artistic innovations, the flexible
and broad programme provides students with every opportunity
to widen mind and spirit within the framework of educational
curricula of excellence.
