8/9 Boys go Back-to-Back

89 KO champions

Trinity claims back-to-back state knockout titles

Nov 13:  The Trinity College year 8/9 boys knockout basketball team has claimed its second state championship in as many years with a 17-point victory over Henley High on Wednesday.  The day went according to script with both teams winning through their pool games undefeated.  Each team boasted several state training squad members and so were heavily favoured to battle out for supremacy.  The final was closer than the final score indicated, with Henley sticking around with some spirited play.  Trinity, however, kept their noses in front to lead by four at the final change.   The last quarter, however, was all Trinity.  Tenacious defence and disciplined offence ensured there was no come-from-behind heroics from Henley.  A clinical performance from the back-to-back champs.   In earlier games, Trinity defeated Tenison Woods in the first game by eight, then easily accounted for Unley High in the second game and scraped by Encounter College to finish undefeated in pool play.  The Semi Final saw a rematch with Tenison Woods and another tight match.

The team:  Jackson Hately, Jackson Walsh, Hudson Walsh, Ben Pearson, Alex Winter, Flynn Holt, Ethan Hood, Luke Mollet, Carmine Esposito, Jed Gauci, Yaekob Gale, Rupert Sapwell (Coach).
